Phone and telehealth consultations are available to help manage those with health conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including people who wish to stay at home.

Please call our office to set up an appointment. We'll find a time that fits into your busy schedule and ours. Be sure to let our staff know which location you wish to consult with Mr. Smith.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth involves an appointment with Mr Simon Smith that takes place via a video link or webcam over a computer or phone device rather than in the surgeon’s rooms. You will be emailed an invitation to participate in a consultation via video or webcam by administration for Mr Smith. The email will come from the following address invitations@coviu.com

Telehealth Appointments: how do they work?

The consultation will take place via a secure link emailed to you from our telehealth software Coviu. All that is required is a device with a speaker and camera. This may be a computer, mobile phone or tablet that has internet capabilities. In most instances, you will not be required to download any software to your device, although Google Chrome is recommended on android devices and Safari 12+ on iOS devices. Coviu also works with Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

To help make your video consultation a success, please follow these simple steps:

  • Be ready at least 10 minutes prior to your consultation to allow for preparation time.
  • Click on the LINK in your email that we send you.
  • Make any payment of consultation required.
  • Test your microphone and camera before starting.
  • Look at the camera during the consultation.
  • Speak clearly so your voice can be picked up by the microphone.

Phone consultations: how to they work?

Mr Smith will contact you on your listed phone number at the scheduled appointment time. Please be patient as Mr Smith may be running late (this is the same with face to face consultations!)

Privacy and Confidentiality

The same privacy and confidentiality requirements that apply to face-to-face consultations apply to video consultations. Those wishing to participate in video consultations should determine their own level of comfort regarding web based video conference systems before proceeding. Recording (video or audio) of all or part of the telehealth consultation is strictly prohibited for all parties. Our practice does not record video consultations and we do not give patients permission to make their own recordings of a video consultation.

After your appointment

Any xray or imaging request forms can be emailed. Prescriptions that you require will be emailed to you with an original copy mailed to your pharmacist via Australia Post. If you require a follow up appointment, Mr Smith will inform you of this during your consultation. A member of our administration staff will contact you to schedule your next appointment time and email you a receipt for your consultation to enable you to claim any private health insurance rebates shortly after the consult.
